Horse heads, Aldo Londi, Bitossi, 1960s

Sculptor and ceramicist Aldo Londi, Bitossi Ceramiche’s historic artistic director and collaborator, designed these terracotta horse heads in the 1960s. Londi blends tradition and contemporaneity to create a modern product. His natural inclination towards research allows him to undertake bold endeavours and define a new expressive vocabulary, inspired by constant technical and material experimentation. These horses have a particular patina, created by the atmospheric agents to which they have been exposed, which gives them an important lived-in feel.
