Leader table lamp by Barbieri&Marianelli, 1980

Raul Barbieri began a fruitful collaboration with the prestigious design firm Olivetti after graduating from Milan Polytechnic. It was during this period that he met Giorgio Marianelli, with whom he founded a studio specialising in architecture and industrial design. The Leader halogen table lamp is the result of Barbieri and Marianelli’s creativity for Tronconi of Milan in the mid-1980s. This design piece is characterised by its remarkable size and versatility, as it can be adjusted in all directions. Inspired by architectural elements, it is not only assembled according to functional requirements, but also carefully balanced in its visual weight: full forms for the base and the lampshade, hollow forms for the central arm.
