2025\ Assisi, Italy
At the foot of Assisi, within the old Cannara railway station, a new story begins to unfold.
The Coffee Emporium, once a meeting point for travellers and communities, a hub for the exchange of essential goods, is transforming into a centre of tradition, memory, and design.
This place has a specific location, not by chance, exactly “beyond the tracks,” past the still-active line that separates the station from Spaccapanico’s headquarters.
A few years ago, we began building a bridge between the craft production hub and the station, an act of regeneration of the railway heritage, recovering and refurbishing spaces that had long been disused.

The first and most emblematic building of the new Spaccapanico centre is the Coffee Emporium itself: an area that reflects the old goods yard of the station, where basic commodities and objects were stored.
The building’s original purpose – to serve as a depot, to shelter and safeguard – has been preserved and reinterpreted. We have chosen to give rest to the objects, which like seasoned travellers, have undertaken lengthy and complex journeys through time and space, offering them care and opportunities for rebirth.

And so, these “travellers” find themselves transported into a different era, needing to find a key to re-enter the urban fabric, occupy new spaces, and tell different stories. This essential moment of care and recuperation, carried out through the skilled hands of our artisans, allows them to reclaim a new identity, fuelled by innovative and creative projects.

Within the Spaccapanico Coffee Emporium, we encounter pieces from every corner of the world — works by anonymous artisans or renowned names that have left their mark on the history of design.
What strikes is the variety of their appearances and the way they present themselves: each one dressed in colours, materials, and cultures different from the next. Their lives intertwine within the corridors, in spontaneous encounters that generate new synergies, inspirations, and project opportunities.
One can never predict what might happen in such a magical and energetic space. Even when everything seems still, something important is about to occur.
The Coffee Emporium and the entire station complex represent a journey of revival, where not a single luggage will ever be truly lost.
